Bergeron Land Development Awarded 2021 DBE Utilization Achievement Award by the FTBA
Bergeron Land Development (BLD) recently announced that it is once again the recipient of the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Utilization Achievement Award from the Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA). The award recognizes Bergeron’s utilization of DBE-certified subcontractors on its Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects during the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Bergeron most recently received this distinction for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.
“Every Bergeron project begins with goal setting including budgets, timelines, and even the use of DBE-certified subcontractors,” said Bergeron Land Development Founder and President Ronald M. Bergeron, Sr. “I can proudly say that Bergeron remains committed to the growth and eventual self-sufficiency of disadvantaged businesses. Once again, we not only met, but exceeded the DBE goals for all FDOT projects.”
About the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program:
The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program (DBE) is a legislatively mandated USDOT program that applies to Federal-aid highway dollars expended on federally-assisted contracts issued by USDOT recipients such as State Transportation Agencies (STAs). The U.S. Congress established the DBE program in 1982 to:
- Ensure nondiscrimination in the award and administration of DOT-assisted contracts
- Help remove barriers to the participation of DBEs in DOT-assisted contracts
- Assist the development of firms that can compete successfully in the marketplace outside of the DBE program
