State Road 15/600 Improvements
Client: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) – Project T1557
Location: Seminole County, Florida
Project Type: Roadway Construction
Procurement Type: Contract – $53.3 million
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) retained Bergeron Land Development to widen and enhance 3.5 miles of State Road (SR) 15/1600 from Raven Avenue to Lake Mary Boulevard in Seminole County, Florida. SR 15/600 is part of US Highway 17/92 and is a major arterial highway between Sanford and Orlando, Florida. The project began in the spring of 2016 and was completed in December 2021.
The roadway was a substantially rural four-lane divided highway with inadequate drainage. Bergeron Land Development was responsible for widening the road to six lanes with a closed drainage system with a 1.4 acre underground stormwater storage and exfiltration system.
Other improvements included replacing an existing box culvert with a bridge structure to improve the flow of Soldier Creek, constructing concrete pavement at major intersections, and providing curb and gutter, sidewalks, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) facilities throughout the project.
